Who I Am: The Movie Version

Image
We love the movies we love because we can internalize something from the movie. We "get" how a character is feeling. We sympathize or empathize with a situation. Sometimes though a character is us to a T. we can't escape how much they remind us of ourselves. For me it is Abby Barnes from The Truth About Cats and Dogs. Abby is sadly so me. She's smart, sarcastic and ambitious. She has put her career first, and she is very independent. Of course all those positives come with some negatives.

Her sarcasm can sometimes lead to negativity. She has horrible self esteem. She doesn't believe she deserves the things she wants most. Her best friend is amazingly hot. This of course gets her in trouble.

Yep that is me. Okay I wish I had the dream job, but I can't have it all. I'm smart and ambitious. If I don't give you your daily dose of sarcasm, I'll give you a 100% refund. I've pretty much put the idea of having anyone to take care of me out of the p…

How do you dress after the day job?

Image
I have to dress up every day. I hate it. I look forward to getting home and changing into my real clothes. Now what I change into is totally determined by what I am going to be doing that evening. If I am just staying home and blogging, I am all about being comfortable. I change into jeans and a t-shirt. If I am going to work from home, I might as well be comfortable. No one is going to see me, so I'm not a slave to fashion.

If I am running errands, I may change into jeans and shoes. I want to be comfortable, but I still want to look nice. Maybe I have watched too many episodes of What Not to Wear, but I sort of what to be able to take pride in my appearance while in public.

If I am working, then it depends on where I'm working and my mood. if the bar is very casual, they I am less apt to dress up. If it is a nicer place, I usually dress nicer than just a nice t-shirt. Then I usually break out the cute shirts and sweaters.

Just around the house or running errands usually means …

Could I really eat nothing but Sushi for a year?

Image
If I had to eat one type of cuisine for a year, I would be very torn. I am an adventurous eater. I'm all about trying new cuisine. It might not be my cup of tea, but at least I know I tried it. Because I love the variety, I can't settle on just one type of food. Lunch @ Dake Sushi by wEnDaLicious I am a HUGE fan of Chinese and Japanese food. I have at least one Chinese take out place in my cell phone and I am lucky enough to have a decent sushi place just down the the street from my house.

Now, eating take out can get expensive. The good thing is that I love making it too. I'm a regular at Asia Mart and I am always trying new things. If I can't read the label, I'm not afraid to find an employee to help me.

However, I also love Mexican food. Salsa and guacamole are two of my favorite things. I'm not as versed in Mexican cooking, but I am getting better. My fast food places of choice are Qdoba, Chipolte, and Moe's Southwestern grill. I'll skip the burgers …

We all have our addictions

Image
My addiction of choice is caffeine. I make no apologies for this. Without it I have awful headaches and some days I can barely function, While I am not nearly as dependent as I used to be, my need for diet dr pepper is still strong. Diet Dr. Pepper Takes More Like Regular Dr. Pepper by chriscoyier We really did drink pop in my house as kids. We drank lots of water and kool aid. It wasn't until high school that my addiction started. Even in junior high, I started to pick up a can of dr pepper in the vending machine at school. I was already starting to add on activities. By the end of the school day I needed a little pick me up.

Really, that is all it was until I started working at the nursing home. Again, my consumption went up as I would get a dr pepper at my break. Then I started working days. Being at work at 6:30 a.m. was rough. i could not stand the smell let alone the taste of coffee. I needed something to get me going in the morning. Soon I was up to at least four cans a d…
