It is amazing how things change: fiction

One minute, I have my story all figured out. The next one new idea changes every thing. It opens the door to new characters, eliminating characters, or changing core elements. Sometimes you find yourself at a crossroads: where do I go and what do I change. Do I keep a character? Do I add a character or just make a new one? Do I make her a villain or a truly nice person stuck in the middle. Yes the villain creates more drama, but at what point is there too much drama? Maybe making the other woman too nice will create the conflict needed. Back story…character tie ins…eh maybe we can use that later. I like the whole idea of the female lead knowing someone in this new story. I know that was the whole basis of the initial story idea, but now I am starting to think that may be a hindrance. Do we need the whole elaborate past, or can this new idea make up for all of this?     So now I find myself looking at what I have, the new ideas, and how to make it all work. Sometimes I wonder how I ma...

I'll take a tattoo of a nightmare before christmas – just for a week

Image
Lets just pretend I could get over my fear of needles, and my worries about tattoos, and I could have one for just week. Now this would be a huge undertaking seeing how needles just about put my blood pressure through the roof. I guess I would get something from A Nightmare Before Christmas. Nightmare before xmas disneyland I don't know where I would put it. I mean I'm not exactly one to show off skin. Maybe it will go on my shoulder or my ankle? I'm not sure I would keep it though. I am not sure if permanent tattoos are for me. I love well done ones on other people, but having my own makes me nervous. One I don't have a boo show one off and I change so often I'm not sure what I pick now would be what ld want on me forever.

Dream Journal 1

Well after a week, the strange dreams keep coming. I wish I could remember them all, but I did manage to get a few down on paper. All of these are reoccurring dreams. Proof work is getting to me: In one reoccurring dream, I'm constantly working on these laptops from work…but I am not a work. I'm at home, out with friends, and yet I am on my cell phone talking to my boss as I fix these laptops. The reoccurring one that scares me the most is the one where I am still in bed, but my legs are too heavy and tight to function. I can't get up. Someone from my past suddenly shows up at a karaoke show, and I am obsessed with showing them I am better off than I was the last time I saw them. It is like I am back in high school and I am trying to show them how awesome I am. There is never a real great reason why they are there, but suddenly I am trying to convince them how happy I am. The last one is the one where the long lost family member is there. They tell me they are there to meet...

My first plane trip, from Detroit, MI to Paris, France

Image
It was the summer I turned 16, and I was all ready to take my first flight. I was ready for three weeks in France, but I was a little worries about the flight. I was actually a little afraid of flying. I mean I had a 9 hour flight to Amsterdam, a lay over and then another flight to Paris. Nothing like making your first flight a flight over the Atlantic. You might as well make it a big splash right?? I was terrified, but as luck would have it, I ended up getting bronchitis right before the trip. My doctor gave me a cough syrup with codeine. That was blessing. Our flight took off out Detroit at 10 pm. and took the codeine shortly after take off. I remember the in flight movie starting and that is about it.I remember my friend Keith waking up and making me walk around the plane. I remember the flight attendant waking me up and having me eat, and then we were landing. Honestly, it was great. I woke up In Amsterdam rested and without jet lag. It was a perfect start to the trip. ...

Asia, here I come

Image
I can't wait until I can afford to go to Asia. I'm most interested in going to China or Japan. Asian cultures have always amazed me, and I think it would be awesome to experience it first hand. China has always been on the top of the must see list. My interest in Japanese is newer, but I almost think I'd rather go to Japan at this point. I am vfery interested in the fashion and the technology...okay and the sushi.

Dreams Revisited

It is late registration time, and of course that means my life is crazier than usual. One side effect of this is the return of the weird and disturbing dreams. So I am working 70 hours a week, and not sleeping. This is a bad combo.   Even when I do crash and burn (aka Sunday), I still only sleep for short periods of time. That is a major issue at times, but I try to just keep going. I've belabored the why me's of this and the being annoyed. Now I'm just going to run with it. It is time to track and try to make sense of this low grade madness. These dreams usually involve: People from my past A fiction piece I am working on People I know but totally bizarre situations. Bad things happening…sometimes tragic sometimes just odd They are so real I'm disappointed when I wake up.   Seriously, deciding to buy a truck on my way to work, somehow thinking I didn't have to be at work until 1, so I don't call to tell them I am late, and then losing my job isn't nice. See...

I'm not sick, but I'm not well

The college years will always have a special place in my heart. There were so many good songs from that era, but these bring back the most memories, Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger When I was in college, they released all these teenish movies the reminded me of my high school. This song was in the Disturbing Behavior soundtrack. The movie was okay, but this song always stuck out. I'll be the first to admit the idea of chipping the popular kids seemed pretty parallel to my high school experience, but the writing was lacking. Still this song is awesome: I've been around the world, and l've been around the world and found only stupid people are breeding....that is a classic line. Little Black Backpack by Stroke 9 This was my song back in the day. I'm not sure of all the reasons anymore, but it just became closely associated with me during college. Mayb...

The James Hotel: Well worth it

Image
I probably couldn't never had afforded it at the time, but this was a great place to stay. The rooms are fabulous, the steakhouse is awesome, and the staff is amazing. My sister and I stayed there as part of a trip I had won. We had a four day spa trip. We were treated like A-listers through out our whole stay. Staff members ...even the doormen remembered us and were always very helpful. We indulged at a spa just down the street, shopped on Michigan avenue and out at Clark and Belmont, went to a wine tasting and had an all arounf fabulous time. The bar was great and the steakhouse was amazing. We were able to eat three meals there, and each was awesome. They even had a little business center we both used to print our boarding passes and check in the with rest of the world. How can you not love the modern look, turn down service and the stick figure city scape?

Nice to meet you

Image
I'm not a huge fan of going in cold. I like to be somewhat appraised of what I am getting into. Yes, I am overly cautious, but past mistakes have made it so I refuse to knowingly put myself in a similar situation. I'm not sure I have a set of criteria. I know it might be shallow, but finding out a guy lives in his parents basement because he is a stoner and can't keep a decent job, or because he's a constant victim that can't get his act together as opposed to he just had a run of bad luck isn't fun. I just want to know the basics upfront. I need to be able to put my own initial anxiety to rest. I'm not going to say complete strangers are just out of luck, but I would rather have some information before the initial meeting.

Tales of the oldest child

Image
Like many oldest children I was the experiment. My parents were learning how to parent, and I was their trial run on all their rules and expectations. That just comes with the territory. It is just the way things are in most families. I think it made me more responsible as an adult. I have a different understanding. I think all oldest children are the experiment. Our parents are learning how to be parents. The oldest children get to be the ones put through trial and error. I think it made me more responsible. I have a different perspective on money and obligation. I feel like the "mom" of my friends, and like I should always be doing something ...
