The Hardest Part

Image
This weekend brought up a lot of memories and emotions from over the past year. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be (that still doesn't mean my emotions weren't all over the place and that Pink's Who Knew...a song I sing all the freaking time..didn't make me cry like a baby in my car). These things are true (and suck) I miss my mom. Yes, we had our moments (lets just call those my "teenage years") and I still find things she has done that make me very angry. Still, those are things we just have to forgive and deal with. She can't ever be replaced. I miss my child/parent relationship with my dad.He will always be my dad, but that dynamic is gone. Now I worry about things like if he has pants that fit (he loses weight like it is his job), if we have money to pay his bills, and I worry about his health. I feel badly for not getting to see him as much as I would. He doesn't want me to give up my life and move back to Ohio, so I have t...

The Bottom Line

Writing Prompts: 1.)  Six Word Memoir : Write about a significant time in your life in just six words. 2.) “One need not be a chamber to be haunted, One need not be a house. The brain has corridors surpassing material place”. -Emily Dickinson What haunts you? 3.) Describe a talent or flaw that seems to be in your genes. 4.) What are you passionate about? 5.) Comfort food at its finest. Share a family favorite recipe you loved as a child. Lets go with #4  Shall We? It has been an interesting ride over the past almost 32 years: I was a cute baby: I was an adorable toddler: I was a child with a bad perm: Police Radios were just a part of Christmas morning and family dinners : I had the "coolest car" I may have vandalized a friend's car with evidence tags and rubber gloves found in aforementioned cool car: I went to college: Moved Away and Made New Friends: I traveled: I even toured with a band: Bottom Line: No matter where I have gone, what...

I Can't Believe they Are Almost A Year Old!

Image
Popcorn (my 22 year old male cockatiel), and Weddnesday (my 3 year old female cockatiel) decided about 14 months ago to start nesting. Despite all my best efforts to stop this, Weddnesday started laying eggs, all over my apartment. I asked my vet what to do. She told me to get a nest, and let this ride itself out. Popcorn was probably too old to fertilize them any way. So I bought a nest box: Oh yay eggs! Weddnesday decided she was over it and abandoned the nest...so Popcorn sat on the eggs basically 24/7: Jackass... Weddnesday finally did return to the nest, and about 25 days after I bought the nest box, and I thought we were home free, I returned from a karaoke gig and heard an unfamiliar noise coming from the nest box. I poked my head in: I did not have a visual on the baby, but did see half an eggshell. Fantastic. June 3: Happy Hatchday One. The next night, I returned home from another karaoke show. I looked in the nest box and now there were 2 broken eggs. Awesome. T...

Why I Get to Hate Thunderstorms...and you don't get to judge

Image
I agree that the Indianapolis media gets a little over zealous about bad weather...and by over zealous I mean they can make it into a three ring circus. I agree that it is a little over kill at times, and that yes it gives the average person another reason to worry and be anxious over what is usually nothing. Snowmageddon...annoyed me. The ice I kept getting stuck in because my apartment complex doesn't pay for "ice removal" was really the biggest issue once I unearthed my car from it's ice coffin. Every thunderstorm isn't severe, and we don't have to pretend it is. If nothing is changing about the storm, lets not interrupt programming to tell me the same exact thing over and over again for an hour. However, if there is a severe storm, with rotation in your viewing area and you can help save lives, then yes interrupt the programming. Give the people who need the info the facts. Yeah you know what it might just be raining in our neck of the woods, but the v...

This Might Be the Best Picture Ever

Image
I really do not like having my picture taken. Actually, I dislike most pictures of me. However, I have one picture that may be my all time favorite: Yes it is old, and yes it is very much not how I look now, but there are many reasons why this may just be the best picture ever. Here is a break down of why it is so awesome: In this picture: Mom, Adam (1 month old...as evidenced by the June '82 date stamp), and me (one month shy of 3). Reasons it is awesome: It is from the "original Woodville house:" This is the house I grew up in. This is the house I miss. Please note the ugly paneling that we had throughout the first floor. It was hideous, but no one else had it. We also have "Old Greenie." THE couch that stayed with us even when we moved...when I was 20. Ugly? Oh yes. Comfortable? In that regard, she was the best couch ever. Also, you can just barely see the ugly curtains on the window above the couch...they matched the couch and the carpeting...and...

Oh Yeah it is time for tequila

Image
Well folks as promised I have the margaritas made...time to clean and enjoy them (sadly alone, but what else is  new).

I'm Thinking it is a Margarita Kind of Weekend (and the weekend starts tomorrow)

Image
Ok and by weekend I mean tomorrow: Why may you ask? 1) For the friends and things that make me laugh so hard my ribs hurt and I forget about the rest of the world for a moment or two: If Doug weren't techno-amish...I would almost believe he posted this himself 2) The fear of trying new things: My First Vlog And then the fear of trying them again...tomorrow... 3) The memories and upcoming anniversary that make me sad:  2 Sisters Recount Losing Their Mother in Tornado 4) The things that worry me and keep me awake at night 5) The things (yes things) that terrify me because they are totally out of my control. Whether it be the media: Way to be classy Toledo Blade..because we need a reason to hate you more or things in my personal life (which gets no picture(s)...nosy people ;-p). So for all the good, bad, crazy and otherwise "just me" things in my life...I think tequila is needed.  All are welcome to join :-).
